Donald H. Ferguson

Donald H. Ferguson, 81, of Garnet Valley passed away on June 21st, 2017 at his home.  He was born and raised in Boothwyn, Pa to the late Henry and Mary Ferguson.  He later moved to Wyoming DE, where he operated and ran a large farm.  He then entered the United States Marine Corps, with whom he served during the Korean Conflict.  Donald worked as a pipe fitter for Philadelphia Electric prior to his retirement.  He also spent time truck farming and running a fruit stand.  Donald enjoyed fishing and gardening, and was a farmer at heart.  He also built his own home in Garnet Valley, where he and his family still live.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Linda Ferguson and Marylou Wholahan.  He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Clark Ferguson; Children, Scott Ferguson and Linda Holobovich (David); grandchildren, Leah and Jacob Holobovich.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 24th at 10am at the Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home 1459 Market St. Linwood, PA.  Friends and family are invited to call on Friday evening from 6-8pm and again on Saturday morning from 9-10am. Burial will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the American Patriots Service Corps at www.apscnp.org.  This organization assists elderly veterans and their widows obtain military benefits.

  1. I didn’t know Don for very long but he sure had a major impact on me. I will sure miss him and that smile he gave me each time he saw me!! Betty, Scott, Linda and family….I am truly sorry for your loss!! You will all continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

  6. Mr Ferguson very interesting and intelligent man but definitely was set in his ways. Man laughs with him about the things he has done. Will definitely miss this gentleman, will always remember him. Being a best friend to Scott Ferguson I will continue to do good things in his memory. May you RIP and your family be safe and well, and you Mr. Ferguson, riding your tractor with a smile until we meet again.
