John (Jack) MacMorran, 89, of Boothwyn died Tuesday April 18th, 2017 after a long illness. He was born to John and Gertrude Corcoran MacMorran in Chester, where he was reared and educated. He graduated from St. James High school class of 1945. He was the former Postmaster at the Philadelphia International Airport for over 30 years before his retirement in 1982. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII.
Jack was a longtime member of the St. John Fisher Catholic Church in Boothwyn where he was active with the parish council and also served as the head of the ushers. He enjoyed traveling, going to the casino, but most of all spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Jean Casey MacMorran; daughter, Susan M. Gilroy; sister, Patricia Miles. He is survived by his daughter, Jean (Tom) Doyle of Betterton, MD; brother, James MacMorran; 3 grandchildren,1 great-granddaughter.
His viewing will be from 9:30-10:15 on Wednesday, April 26th at the Ward Funeral Home, 1459 Market St., Linwood. A graveside burial service will follow in SS Peter and Paul cemetery. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Saturday May 27th at St. John Fisher Church, Boothwyn.
