Catherine M. Silverman – 1/4/2023

January 24th, 2023

Catherine M. Silverman (née Kilbride) of West Grove, PA, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA.

Catherine was born April 17, 1936, in Philadelphia, PA, where she grew up.  After marrying her beloved husband, she resided in Sharon Hill, PA, from 1956 until 2000.

Catherine attended Villa Maria Academy in Malvern, PA, and business technical school in Philadelphia.  She worked at Curtis Publishing Company in Philadelphia, then as a homemaker, and later at KinderCare in Folcroft, PA.  She also worked as a private nanny and helped raise three of her granddaughters.  In later years, Catherine worked at Luther House in Jennersville, PA, where she resided for the past 20 years.

Catherine enjoyed spending time with family, reading, watching old movies, the theatre, and visiting Longwood Gardens.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Harold Silverman, beloved son Edward Silverman, parents Edward and Anna Kilbride (née Coughlin), and sister Margaret Jones.

Catherine felt her greatest blessings were her children and grandchildren.  She was a devoted mother to Robert Otto (Jacqueline), Vickie Dennison (Chuck), daughter-in-law Agnes Silverman (Edward), René Lafferty (Dennis), and David Silverman (Terri).  She was a kind and loving Mom-Mom to Robert Otto, David Otto (Tabitha), Shawn Lafferty (Krysta), Emily Lafferty, Alison Shubert (Patrick), Aine Bruhl (Sam), Stephanie Dennison, Ian Silverman, and Lindsay Silverman.  Catherine was also an appreciative great-grandmother to Sofia Lafferty, Jack Lafferty, Molly Otto, Claire Otto, and Amelia Bruhl.  Additionally, she is also survived by cousins Jean Ambs and Janice Mosher and their families.

For those wishing to attend, a celebration of Catherine’s life is scheduled for March 4, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Willowdale Chapel 111 Vineyard Way West Grove, PA 19390.   Catherine wished for her ashes to be scattered at sea, which the family will do privately.

In her memory, in lieu of flowers, Catherine wished that you extend an act of kindness or generosity to an elderly person.
