David S. D’Angelo, Sr. – 12/29/2019

David S. D’Angelo, Sr., 71, of Linwood passed away on December 29th, 2019.  He was born in Chester to the late Leonard and Mary D’Angelo.  He was raised and educated in Linwood and was a graduate of St. James High School. Dave went on to attend Retz Electronic School and Penn State University.  He graduated from the police academy in Hershey, PA and went on to serve as a police officer in Aston Twp. and Lower Chichester Twp.  He was also a graduate of the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA.  Dave owned D’Angelo’s sandwich shops in Linwood and Venice, Fl.  He then went on to work for many years at the Linwood Sunoco.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and served as a commissioner for Lower Chichester Twp. He is predeceased by his brothers, Peter, Phillip, Gabriel, and Leonard; sisters, Rosemary Conte, Rosie Wetherill, Felicia Ewing.  He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cathy D’Angelo; Children, Kimberly Francis and David D’Angelo, Jr.; grandchildren, Erika Francis, Tyler Francis, Hunter D’Angelo, David D’Angelo III, Matthew Francis, Lane D’Angelo; Brother, Tony D’Angelo.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 4th at 7pm at the Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home 1459 Market St. Linwood, PA.  Friends and family are invited to call from 5-7pm.  Burial will be private. In Lieu of Flowers, donations in her name can be made to the American Cancer Society at https://donate3.cancer.org.

      I am so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing and also sorry I will not be able to attend his service.
      As one of the young cops who looked up to Dave in the beginning of my law enforcement career, I can tell you he was a cop’s cop. May he RIP.
