Harry C. Van Horn – 2/10/2020

Harry C. Van Horn, 85, of Earleville, MD, formerly of Linwood, PA, passed away on February 10, 2020 at his home. He was born and raised in Girardville, PA where he was a graduate of Girardville High School with the class of 1952.  Harry worked as a personnel manager for General Steel, Phoenix Steel, Atlantic Steel, and most recently, the International Envelope Company.  He was an avid sports fan, but especially loved the Phillies.  He was active in baseball serving as a coach and an umpire throughout much of his life. He also enjoyed his time as a DJ. Harry loved to Jitterbug with his wife, Thelma and enjoyed doing word search puzzles.  Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Thelma Van Horn; Children, Debra Jester(Michael), Linda Laird (Bill), and David Van Horn (Nanette); grandchildren, Kevin Jester (Jeanine), Erik Jester, Kyle Laird, Katelynn Thomas (Hans), Joshua Van Horn (Amanda), and Brett Van Horn; great-grandchildren, Addison, David, Dalton, Ava, and Robbie.

His funeral service will be held on Monday, February 17th at 12pm at the Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home 1459 Market St., Linwood, PA.  Friends and family are invited to call from 11am-12 at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery.  In Lieu of Flowers, donations in his name can be made to Door of Hope at 316 E. Main St. Middletown, De 19709.

Thelma and your Grown up kids we were niehbors and friends for many many years, you have such a wonderful family and Thelma you and Harry always had a smile on your face Every time i see you both I am so sorry for your the passing of a good man he will still be smiling down on you and yes with his pipe in his mouth.   4. Only knew Harry for a shirt time but he was the most pleasant person ever. And had the prettiest smile. Our sympathies to Thelma, Deb, and family.
