James “Jugo” Bucella, 92, of Brookhaven passed away after a short illness on Thursday, July 5th, 2012 at Riddle Memorial Hospital surrounded by loving family members. He was born in Supino, Italy to Michael and Quintilina Bucella. He was reared and educated in Chester, Pa. Jugo worked as an auto mechanic for Fenza’s garage for many years until his retirement in 1990. Prior to that, he also worked for Eddystone Print Works and bartended at the Little Italian Club in Chester. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps where he served during WWII. As a member of the 861st Bomb Squad, he was engaged in the air offensives in Normandy, Ardennes and the Rhineland. During his time in the service, he was the recipient of a Good Conduct Medal, a Distinguished Unit Badge and a European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 6 Bronze Stars.
Jugo loved to do crossword puzzles and was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, especially the Phillies.
He was predeceased by his Wife, Theresa Cecilia Bucella who died in 2010; Sisters, Jean Paolucci, Phyllis Pro and Rose Thompson. He is survived by his Daughter, Nancy Borzio of Carney’s Point, NJ; Son, Michael Bucella of Lima, Pa; 2 Sisters, Violet Newsome of Texas and Mary Roberts of Chester; 2 Brothers, Joseph Bucella of Boothwyn and Fioreno “Gus” Bucella of Marcus Hook; 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
His memorial service will be held on Monday, July 9th at 7:45 pm at the Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home, 1459 Market St., Linwood, PA. Friends and family are invited to call from 7:00-7:45 at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
