James (Jim) William Mitchell, Sr., age 82, of Upper Chichester passed away peacefully at Shannondell Rehab Center on May 27th, 2021. Jim was a retired bus operator of 32 years from the Red Arrow and SEPTA Transportation companies. He was a life member of the Colwyn and Darby Fire Patrol # 2 Companies. He was an assistant Boy Scout leader of Collingdale Troop 159 and a member of the Order of the Arrow. Jim served in the US Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 761. He was also a member of the Upper Chichester Senior Citizens.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Mitchell; mother, Deborah (Pusey) Hering; brother, William Mitchell; sister, Kathleen (Hering) Hurd.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Erva (Mackinson) Mitchell; son, James William Mitchell, Jr. (Beth); daughters, Jacquelyn Rogers (George), and Michele Mitchell (Jim Smith); 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 2nd at 10:30am at St. John Fisher Church 4225 Chichester Ave. Upper Chichester, PA. Friends and family are invited to his viewing from 9:30-10:30am in church. Burial will be private.
