Jessie B. Strain, 86, of Lewes, DE passed away peacefully at her home with her loving children by her side. Jessie was born to the late Leon and Catherine Moore. She was a woman who was dedicated to her home and family. In her later years, she enjoyed her time working at Sears and Pantry Pride. She liked to do counted cross stitch, cook, bake and color. She loved her collection of antique dolls as well. What she enjoyed most, however, was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph P. Strain; father of her 9 children, Reginald Shaw; Son, Wayne; Sister, Catherine Frank. She is survived by her children, Reginald (Edna), Robert (Shirley), Richard, Leon (Cindy), Kevin, Tammy (Robert), Catherine (Richard) and Steven; Brothers, David and Leonard; sisters, Phyllis and Linda; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the Delaware Hospice nurses, CHEERS health care workers, Home Instead Senior Care and a special thanks to, Kathy Bauman.
Her funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 19th at 12pm at the Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home, 1459 Market St. Linwood, PA. Friends and family are invited to call from 11am-12pm at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Delaware Hospice.
Cindy I am praying for you and your family.God gave you some great times together, remember and talk about those times, it will help you with your grief. The best thing that ever happened to Leon Shaw was you. Leon would want all of us to be thankful for the time we had together. God is good even in the difficult times.
