Joseph T. Curran – 10/16/2021

Joseph T. Curran, 66, of North Cape May, NJ formerly of Wilmington, DE passed away on October 16th , 2021 at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Vineland, NJ.  He was in the process of working his way home after an extended hospitalization.  He was born in Philadelphia on July 21, 1955 to the late Beatrice M. Feely Curran and Joseph V. Curran.  He was raised and educated in Upper Darby and was a graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School.  Joe then went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Drexel University and a Master’s in Finance from St. Joseph’s University.  He was also a CPA.

Joe’s career spanned over three decades.  He worked in Public Accounting and held senior management positions for various companies including ARA Services, ICI, Info Systems and Marsh & McLennan.  Joe was a great networker and knew many people in the greater Philadelphia and Wilmington areas.   He never hesitated to help someone along the way.

Although work was important to him, nothing was more important than family and friends.  He was loved and respected by those who knew him.  He was known for his positive attitude and was called the “social director” by his closest friends because he was always trying to get them together. He also enjoyed Philadelphia sports and loved to attend games for all four teams.  Joe enjoyed a vast collection of music of many different genres. He also had an impressive DVD collection.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Anna Curran and sister, Annamarie Cook.  He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jane Marie Curran; Son, Joseph Scott Curran; brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.   He will be missed by many dear friends as well.

His funeral mass will be held on Thursday, October 21st at 11am at Holy Rosary Church 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE.  Friends and family are invited to call from 10:00-11am in church.  Burial will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery.

  1. Joe was one of the kindest, most generous of men. He was a highly regarded colleague of my husband Robert Franco when they worked together at ARA Services in Philadelphia Even though many years have passed since I last saw Joe and Jane he has always been in my heart. It is great loss for all of us, and especially his family. I mourn his passing. My love and condolences to Jane and his family.
