Joseph (Ted) Alpaugh

Joseph “Ted” Alpaugh, 48 years old, passed away December 23, 2008 at home. Born in Chester and raised in Linwood to Loretta Alpaugh, nee Billingsley and the late Edward J. Alpaugh. Ted graduated from Chichester High School in 1978, he moved to Newport DE in 1987 moving back to Linwood in 1993.

Ted was self employed operating M & T Alpaugh General Contracting. A member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, he had many skills in the concrete and construction Industry, and his passion was operating heavy equipment, the bigger the better he would say. Prior to starting his own business in early 2008, Ted worked for Mega Construction, Cavan Concrete, Shurline Mechanical Contractors, Earle Downing Paving and George & Lynch, Inc.

Ted loved nature and could tell you just about anything you would like to know about anything. He loved to watch the History and Discovery Channel and was a history buff. He was a loving and caring person who would do anything for someone in need of help, never expecting anything in return, he received his enjoyment from helping. Ted was a very sociable person and could make friends anywhere he went.

He was predeceased by his father Edward J. Alpaugh. He is survived by his mother Loretta Alpaugh of Linwood, children Bethany, Dylan, and Logan Alpaugh of Wilmington DE, and siblings, Edward J. (Patricia) Alpaugh of Eldersburg, MD, Janice (Mario) Scalora of Avondale, PA, Michael T. (Gail) Alpaugh of Wilmington, DE and Patrick J. Alpaugh of Boothwyn, and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends invited to his funeral service Monday 10:30am at Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home, 1459 Market St. Linwood, viewing from 9am Monday morning, at the funeral home; burial SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
