Myrtle E. MacPherson – 1/29/2021

February 1st, 2021

Myrtle E. MacPherson, 87, of Boothwyn passed away peacefully at Fair Acres Geriatric Center on January 29th, 2021 under hospice care.

Myrtle was the loving wife to Jerry, who preceded her in death in 1990.  Also preceding her in death were her parents, Raymond Downie and Miriam Downie- Bell; her four brothers, Raymond, Gilbert, Jack, and James.

Myrtle was born and raised in Chester.  She met the love of her life while working at the Scott Paper Company.  They married in 1956 and bought a home in Ogden.  Together they raised two daughters, Debbie and Diane.  Myrtle’s daughters were the light of her life, providing her with immeasurable pride and joy.  Her selflessness and devotion to her girls was evident to everyone who knew her.   Her unwavering love and the sacrifices she made for her family are reflected in her daughter’s own lives and that of their families.

As a beloved mom-mom, Myrtle loved Brad, J.J. , Helen Ann, and Megan unconditionally.  Being an active, caring part of her grandchildren’s lives gave Myrtle immense pleasure.  She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Lucas, Colin, Connor, Rhyan, and Dylan.

Jerry and Myrtle loved gardening and canning their yield from the full acre of land. Their house was a place for people to gather.  Myrtle loved cooking and hosting holiday events.  Myrtle’s pool and patio became a popular place for entertaining and spending family time.  Also, every summer she enjoyed her trip to Wildwood with her family.

Myrtle’s passing leaves an irreparable void in the lives of those who knew and loved her.  She will be missed and remain forever in our hearts.  The family would like to extend special thanks for the exceptional care from the staff of both Fair Acres and Compassionate Care Hospice.

Her funeral mass will be held on Thursday, February 4th at 10:30am at St. John Fisher Church 4225 Chichester ave. Boothwyn, PA.  Friends and family are invited to visitation from 9:30-10:30am in church.  Burial will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery.  Donations in her name can be made to Compassionate Care Hospice at 600 N. Jackson St. Suite 103 Media, PA 19063 or to Fair Acres Family and Friends at 340 N. Middletown Rd. Lima, PA 19037.
