December 29th, 2018

Thomas P. Joseph Ward,67, of Coatesville, formerly of Boothwyn, passed away after a long illness on December 27th surrounded by his loving family at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.  Tom was the second son of the late Joseph A. McDermott & Co. of West Chester, PA.  He spent years serving as a coach for Coatesville Catholic CYO basketball teams for both of his daughters, and as a sideline supporter for his son’s many track and rugby games at Bishop Shanahan High School.  Tom learned how to make friends with everyone he met, a valuable skill growing up in a family of 6.  He was an avid golfer, and a fan of all Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Eagles.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Joseph F. Ward. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nancy Lemire Ward; Children, Dr. Bridget Marie Blodgett, Carolyn Mary Ward, and Thomas Patrick Ward; grandson, Thomas Patrick Ward, III; siblings, Francis Ward, Edward Ward, Ellen Marie Crowell, and Margaret Ann Chaga.

Boothwyn, PA.  Friends and family are invited to call on Tuesday evening from 6-8pm at the Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home 1459 Market St. Linwood, Pa and again on Wednesday morning from 9:30-10:30am in church.  Burial will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery.
