John T. Adams

John T. Adams, 76, of Marcus Hook passed away on Wednesday, January 10th at Wallingford Nursing Home.  He was born in Chester to the late John Carrafa and Margaret Griffith.  John was a graduate of Chichester High School with the class of 1964.  He was a lifelong resident of Delaware County, most recently of Marcus Hook.  He worked for Concord Beverage for 44 years until his retirement in 2009 where he was a member of the Teamsters local union.  John then went on to work as a crossing guard for Chichester School District for 10 years.  John also spent time as a volunteer with the food bank in Marcus Hook at Cokesbury United Methodist Church.  He was a member of the Marcus Hook Senior Citizens group, FOE post 174 in Wilmington, De, and the Brandywine Club in Claymont.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his daughter, Patricia Adams; son, John T. Adams, Jr.; granddaughter, Ashley N. Adams; brothers, Robert Mann (Joan) and Elwood Adams; brother-in-law, Fran Garvey.

He is survived by his granddaughter, Christin Wallace; great-granddaughters, Miracle and Octavia Swanson; sisters, Eleanor Garvey, Gwen “Dee” Giambri (Nick); brothers, Clinton and Joseph (Gail) Adams; sister-in-law, Jesse Adams; best friend, Jeanie; Many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to his memorial service which will be held on Wednesday, January 17th at 11am at the Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home 1459 Market St. Linwood, PA.  A visitation will be held prior from 10-11am.  Burial will be private.

It is with great sadness that the world has lost a good man John was a stable in the community and will missed ..A special place in my heart he gave great affection and attention to my Mom Alice Holmes .Yet even though John is not here physically John will always be in our thoughts and Memories HE HAS JUST GONE BEFORE US IN THE PRESENCE OF OUR SAVIOR God Bless the Family

  3. Sorry to hear this as I worked with John for many years and have lots of fun memories of him. We were both “old school” in thinking. We were both, along with his brother Clint and 17 others, proud members of the “Concord 20”…..Godspeed brother——Jack
