Michael J. Bucella – 5/20/2018

Michael James “Mickey” Bucella, 69, of Lima passed away on Sunday, May 20th.  He was born in Chester to late and beloved James and Teresa Knight Bucella. He attended St. Anthony’s school and was a graduate of St. James High School with the class of 1966.  He was a veteran of the US Air Force.  Michael was an avid fan of Philadelphia sports.  He was well known throughout the area as a Cantor for various Catholic churches.  He was an award winning writer and singer of liturgical music.  He also had a compassion for animals, especially his many cats.

He is survived by his sister, Nancy Borzio; 2 nieces and 5 nephews; many cousins and friends. His funeral mass will be held on Thursday, May 24th at 10:30am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Glen Mills.  Friends and family are invited to call from 8:45-10:15 am in church.  Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.  Donations in his name can be made to the American Cancer Society at https://donate3.cancer.org/.  Online condolences can be sent through www.jwardfuneralhome.com.

  1. I met Mick the summer of 77′ in SIC. He is the only angel on earth I have come across. His smile and laugh; no one can forget. I see he has been busy spreading his “magic”. He just made you feel wonderful. Especial soul and heavenly voice. Rest with God.

  2. Mickey— I remember when you sang on the Boardwalk in the 79s with your band Teddy’s Bear. You were my only cousin from Chester that I got to know. Although we touched base throughout the years, I’ll akways remembe your kindness, warmth humor and song. Such a lovely man God has gathered into Heaven.
